Bessent calls European criticism of diesel fuel price cut hypocrisy

Washington's response to Brussels' accusations

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent sharply responded to European partners who had expressed dissatisfaction with the agreement between the administration of Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. Official Washington defended the decision to temporarily ease the situation with diesel fuel prices.

Accusations of funding the Kremlin

Speaking on Fox News, Bessent stated that Europe's position is contradictory. According to him, European countries continue to effectively fund Putin. Therefore, the minister characterised the EU's claims that the United States has no right to temporarily lower the price of diesel fuel as "pure hypocrisy".
