Iran attacks ships in the Strait of Hormuz without Tehran's permission

The situation in the Strait of Hormuz has sharply escalated. The cause is a series of explosions and direct attacks on civilian merchant ships and tankers.

Iranian military forces and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have begun to strictly block the maritime corridor. They are attacking any vessel that attempts to cross the strait without the corresponding authorisation from Tehran.
