Investigators from the Territorial Directorate of the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB) in Zakarpattia Oblast have completed the collection of evidence regarding the activities of an illegal gambling establishment in the settlement of Velykyi Bereznyi. Law enforcement officers established that a local resident had equipped a room in one of the non-residential premises with computers, allowing visitors to participate in online gambling. The establishment operated without the required licence.
To serve customers, the organiser hired an administrator who simultaneously performed the duties of a cashier. She was responsible for accepting money from players, transferring it to gaming accounts, monitoring the progress of the games, and paying out winnings in cash. In addition, the woman kept financial records, documenting all income and expenses of the establishment. Her salary was covered by funds contributed by visitors.
In June 2026, law enforcement officers shut down this illegal business. During the inspection of the premises, detectives seized the computer equipment used to conduct the games.
The pre-trial investigation regarding the administrator has been completed. An indictment has been sent to court under two articles:
The man, whom the investigation considers the organiser of the gambling establishment, has also been charged under the same articles. The investigation into his part is ongoing.
Operational support for the case is provided by officers of the Directorate of Strategic Investigations in Zakarpattia Oblast of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine. Procedural supervision is vested in the prosecutors of the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Previously, in Kyiv, law enforcement officers exposed a large-scale network of ten illegal gambling halls, through which multi-million turnover was processed monthly.
