Conditions for an energy ceasefire

Ukraine is ready to implement an energy ceasefire and is already discussing this aspect with its international partners. This was stated by Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sibiga, summarising the results of the President's visit to London.

While appearing on a televised marathon, the Foreign Minister detailed the conditions under which Kyiv is prepared to take such steps. According to him, Ukraine will cease strikes on energy infrastructure targets on Russian territory, specifically refineries. However, this condition is reciprocal: Moscow must also stop attacks on Ukraine's energy system facilities.

Allied support and negotiation prospects

Sibiga emphasised that Ukraine sees support and understanding of the need to maintain transatlantic unity from key partners. The minister added that the country expects to receive new packages of military and energy assistance from allies.

He also noted that Kyiv is interested in resuming the trilateral negotiation format with the involvement of the United States. Such a mechanism would allow maintaining the momentum of the peace process.

Prospects for a meeting with Peter Magyar

Separately, the Foreign Minister announced Ukraine's readiness for a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar. To implement this plan, it is necessary to coordinate the date and venue, taking into account the Ukrainian leader's work schedule.

Sibiga explained that the agenda for bilateral and European consultations includes opening negotiation clusters for Ukraine, as well as issues related to the rights of the Hungarian national minority.

«Відповідний закон уже ухвалено, він відкриває шлях до співпраці в усіх сферах – від гуманітарної до торговельно-економічної. Наші народи заслуговують на добросусідство» (The relevant law has already been adopted, it opens the way for cooperation in all areas – from humanitarian to trade and economic. Our peoples deserve good neighbourliness), the minister emphasised.
