Defence on the Hulyaipole axis

The 7th Airborne Assault Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continues to conduct defensive operations in its area of responsibility on the Hulyaipole axis. As reported by the military unit, Ukrainian units are holding back Russian advances and inflicting casualties thanks to coordinated efforts.

Who the fighting is against

The report states that the 5th, 29th, 35th, and 36th Combined Arms Armies of the Russian Federation, as well as the 68th Army Corps of the occupiers, are operating against the units of the 7th Airborne Assault Corps.

Enemy tactics and the destruction of a special unit

The enemy's main tactic remains deep infiltration. Russians are attempting to operate in small infantry groups of 1 to 5 personnel. To move infantry into the 5-kilometre zone ahead of the line of contact, the enemy periodically uses motorised vehicles.

Recently, in one sector, Ukrainian forces destroyed a group from the 22nd Separate Guards Special Purpose Brigade of the Russian Federation. This unit is subordinate to the Russian GRU. It participated in the two Chechen wars, as well as in special missions on the territory of Ukraine between 2014 and 2022.

Preparations for assaults

For a long time, Russians have been accumulating armoured vehicles within a 20-kilometre zone from the line of contact. Over the past week, with the deterioration of weather conditions, the enemy has begun conducting local assaults, deploying infantry, motorcycles, and armoured vehicles.

In this way, the enemy is attempting to accelerate the fulfilment of the strategic task of reaching the outskirts of Zaporizhzhia and blocking the regional centre.

Intelligence on enemy readiness

According to intelligence data, units of the 5th Tank Brigade, the 37th Motor Rifle Brigade, and the 64th Motor Rifle Brigade have completed training at ranges and are ready to operate with military equipment on the enemy's main axis of attack.

«Для рф Гуляйпільський напрямок є одним із ключових на півдні України, тож противник залучає достатню кількість особового складу для повноцінного поповнення бойових втрат. За цих умов ліквідація російських окупантів – лише одне із завдань для підрозділів у нашій смузі відповідальності» (For the Russian Federation, the Hulyaipole axis is one of the key ones in southern Ukraine, so the enemy is deploying a sufficient number of personnel to fully replenish combat losses. Under these conditions, the elimination of Russian occupiers is just one of the tasks for the units in our area of responsibility), the report from the 7th Airborne Assault Corps reads.
