Verdict for illegal export of military products

The Pustomytiv District Court of Lviv region has concluded the review of a criminal case involving a serviceman who attempted to illegally export components for a multiple rocket launcher system. The judge delivered the verdict on 1 October 2026 in case No. 450/2407/26.

How the smuggling attempt unfolded

According to the facts established by the court, a tank commander organised the dispatch of an international postal shipment from Kyiv to France. The parcel was handed over to a Nova Poshta branch. It contained four electromechanical units, which are components of the Russian Tornado-S multiple rocket launcher system and are classified as military goods.

The shipment was registered in the name of a third party who was unaware of the organiser's unlawful intent. Furthermore, the required State Export Control authorisation for the export of such products was absent.

Detention and case details

The criminal activity was halted by customs officers. During customs control operations at the Lviv-Postal customs post, inspectors discovered items prohibited from export.

Mitigating circumstances

During the court hearing, the defendant pleaded guilty in full, expressed sincere remorse, and provided assistance to the investigation. The court took into account a number of mitigating circumstances: a positive character reference from his place of service, the fact that he has two minor children to support, and the absence of any prior criminal record.

Court decision

Considering all the circumstances, the court sentenced the serviceman to a fine of 34,000 hryvnia. The court ordered the confiscation of the seized Tornado-S multiple rocket launcher system parts and other discovered military components for the benefit of the state.
