Complete shutdown of facility in Vladimir Oblast
On 11 October, a data centre of the Russian company Yandex was shut down in Vladimir Oblast following a drone strike. Representatives of the corporation confirmed that the infrastructure sustained damage, forcing operators to completely disconnect the facility from operations.
According to official data, there are no casualties among staff or visitors. However, due to equipment failure, some of the company's digital services are temporarily unavailable to users.
Third attack in a short period
This incident was the third in a few days when Yandex's infrastructure was damaged. On 9 October, a Friday, the company reported damage to its data centre in Kaluga Oblast, located to the south-west of Moscow. The facility was partially disabled following a strike by Ukrainian drones.
Status of the tech giant
Yandex remains one of the leaders in the Russian IT sector and is actively investing in the development of artificial intelligence technologies. Due to its wide range of search and other digital services, the company is often referred to as the Russian equivalent of Google.
