A new inclusive art space, Art Rehub Dnipro, has begun operating in Dnipro. Its goal is to provide comprehensive support to war veterans. The space is located on the premises of the Central City Library, and its creation was supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation. The programme combines music education, creative practices, and elements of socialisation.
Fifteen servicemen and veterans joined the first cohort. An individual attendance schedule was drawn up for each of them. Participants have the opportunity to learn to play the guitar and piano, develop their vocal skills, and take part in group art therapy and music relaxation sessions.
Kateryna Leonova, project manager and co-founder of OKO production, notes that participants independently choose the direction that suits their interests. Classes are led by experienced music school teachers, while creative therapeutic sessions are conducted by a specialist with experience working with veterans and the families of fallen defenders.
The catalyst for creating this project was the personal story of veteran Pavlo. After suffering a severe concussion, he experienced mobility impairments and vision problems. As Kateryna Leonova explained, Pavlo combined physical therapy with guitar lessons. Organisers noted improvements in his motor skills and increased confidence in his own abilities. This positive experience prompted the team to expand the initiative and offer it to others.
It is important to emphasise that Art Rehub Dnipro is not a medical facility and does not replace professional treatment. The space's main task is to create a favourable environment for creativity, learning, and social interaction. Organisers view art as an additional tool for supporting health and returning to an active life.
The final concert-exhibition for the first stage of the project is scheduled for 15 November. Participants will be able to present the results of their classes, their own creative works, and share personal stories. In the future, the team plans to develop Art Rehub Dnipro into a permanent cultural centre hosting exhibitions, concerts, and literary readings.
The project is implemented with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation (UKF) under the "Partnership for Development" programme and the "Dnipro: Resilience and Cultural Gravity" initiative. City departments of humanitarian and veterans' policy, Music School No. 9, "Marun Hub", and the "TAPS" charity foundation have joined the collaboration.
