Launch of digital tool for assessing housing energy resilience
A new digital resource called the "Energy Independence Map" has been officially launched in Ukraine. The main objective of the service is to visualise the level of preparedness of residential buildings for the upcoming heating season and potential emergency power outages. The Ministry of Recovery, Infrastructure and Transport announced the start of the project.
What the online map displays
Users can obtain information about the technical equipment present in a specific building. The service records whether a building is equipped with generators, inverters, and solar panels. In addition, the map indicates whether heating, elevators, water supply, and internet remain operational during power outages.
A key feature of the resource is its integration with the government portal "eOpora". This allows residents to immediately view a list of current state and regional initiatives aimed at the energy modernisation of their building. In particular, the "SvitloDIM" programme is available for viewing, along with information on grants and credit offers.
Data security and information updates
For security reasons, only general data regarding the presence of backup power sources is displayed on the public map. Detailed technical specifications of the equipment are not disclosed to avoid potential risks.
Data updates can be made by representatives of joint ownership associations of multi-apartment buildings (OSBB) or housing management companies (ZHEK). A special feedback form is provided for this purpose.
Ministry's position
Ihor Reva, Deputy Minister of Recovery, Infrastructure and Transport for Digitalisation, described the new service as a practical and safe tool.
«Ця мапа стане практичним і безпечним інструментом, який допомагає людям бачити рівень енергостійкості будинків. Інтеграція програм із платформи "єОпора" робить її ще кориснішою: тепер людина, переглядаючи будинок, може не лише оцінити поточну підготовку та вже вжиті заходи, а й одразу переглянути доступні для нього програми підтримки для подальшої модернизації» (This map will become a practical and safe tool that helps people see the level of energy resilience of buildings. The integration of programmes from the "eOpora" platform makes it even more useful: now, when viewing a building, a person can not only assess the current preparation and measures already taken, but also immediately view the support programmes available to them for further modernisation), noted Ihor Reva.
The service can be accessed at lun.ua/misto/energy.
