Strike on evacuation column
Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Group, stated on television that Russian occupiers struck a column evacuating from Kupiansk. According to him, the vehicle column consisted primarily of the city's peaceful residents.
“News just came in from Kupiansk – there, as expected, this whole story with the evacuation of the civilian population ended in a provocation. A strike was carried out on a column leaving the city, which, according to our data, consisted mostly of peaceful residents. We are now fully verifying the information regarding how many people were injured and what this was. But if previously the Russians used these pseudo-evacuations for personnel rotation, it seems this was the last one, and they decided to use it for an information provocation. They struck them directly. So far, there is no more information; there is video of this incident, but it is not clear enough to establish details or how many people were injured,” Trehubov said.
He added that the Defence Forces are currently investigating all the circumstances of this enemy crime.
Increased enemy activity in the Kupiansk direction
Viktor Trehubov confirmed that the enemy is present in Kupiansk, particularly in the northern districts of the city, and is using its presence to commit similar provocations.
According to the spokesperson, the overall activity of the adversary in the Kupiansk area has increased with the aim of restoring lost positions.
“If we take Kupiansk on the eastern bank of the Oskil River, or the Kupiansk direction as a whole, the Russians have recently become a bit more active there. They are actively trying to push towards Polohy and are actively trying to push, including towards Kupiansk-Vuzlovoy. Moreover, on the western bank, they are trying to restore the position they lost over the past few weeks, trying to resist and even counter-attack slightly to the west. They simply want to maintain their bridgehead on the right bank,” Trehubov noted.
