Expansion of the delegation in Oslo

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre officially confirmed that talks on resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict will take place on Tuesday in the country's capital, Oslo. In addition to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, special representatives of US President Donald Trump will join the participants.

The relevant information was published on the official website of the Norwegian government.

Kyiv's initiative

According to the head of the Norwegian government, the decision to involve American diplomats was made following a corresponding request from Ukraine. Kyiv proposed that Trump's special envoys for peace, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, join the discussions taking place in Oslo.

Thus, the talks will be held with the participation of five key figures: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, as well as two American special representatives.

Goal of diplomatic efforts

Jonas Gahr Støre expressed satisfaction at the possibility of American negotiators participating in the process. He emphasised that diplomatic work had previously been carried out in several countries, and now Norway and Finland have the chance to continue these efforts jointly.

«Я радий, що вони зможуть взяти участь. Раніше дипломатичні зусилля вже здійснювалися в кількох країнах, і Норвегія та Фінляндія раді можливості продовжити цю роботу. Мета полягає в тому, щоб вивести дипломатичні зусилля на більш конструктивний шлях», – зазначив прем'єр-міністр Норвегії. (I am glad that they will be able to participate. Diplomatic efforts have already been made in several countries previously, and Norway and Finland are happy to have the opportunity to continue this work. The goal is to put diplomatic efforts on a more constructive path), stated the Prime Minister of Norway.
