President initiates extension of emergency regimes

On 26 October, Volodymyr Zelensky, who holds the office of President of Ukraine, submitted two bills to the Verkhovna Rada. Their aim is to extend the effect of martial law and general mobilisation for a further 90 days. In parliament, these documents were registered under numbers No. 16182 and No. 16183.

New validity periods

If the people's deputies support these initiatives, both legal regimes will remain in force until 29 January 2027. At present, their current term expires on 31 October.

Further review procedure

The bills were sent for review to the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada, which is responsible for issues of national security, defence and intelligence. The final decision on the adoption of these changes must be made by the people's deputies.
