Permission to train with the first team
Amsterdam football club Ajax has decided to allow Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko to train with the first team. This opportunity is being granted to the player despite the fact that there is no valid employment contract between him and the club.
According to information published by the Dutch outlet Telegraaf.nl, the footballer is expected to appear at Ajax's "De Toekomst" training ground on Tuesday, 20 October. The club's management has granted him access to joint sessions, but negotiations regarding the signing of a new agreement have not yet taken place.
Health status and contract situation
Oleksandr Zinchenko is currently in the final stage of recovery from a serious knee injury, which caused his prolonged absence from competition. It is expected that the defender will soon be able to return to full training with the main group of players.
It is worth noting that the 29-year-old footballer's contract with the Amsterdam side formally expired on 30 June 2026, and the club's management did not extend the validity of this agreement.
The Ukrainian's career path
In the colours of the Ukraine national team, Oleksandr Zinchenko has made 75 appearances, scoring 12 goals. At the professional level, he has also played for Russian club Ufa, English sides Manchester City, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, as well as Dutch club PSV.
During his time at Manchester City under the management of Josep Guardiola, the Ukrainian won several championship titles. He subsequently moved to Arsenal and later joined Ajax.
