Coal shipments from the occupied territories of Donbas to Turkey are carried out through the company "Energoresurs", registered in Rostov-on-Don. According to an investigation, Alexander Yanukovych, the son of the former President of Ukraine, is behind this scheme.
The link between "Energoresurs" and Yanukovych Jr. is traced through his coal holding "Mako" and the DRFC factories. During the period from 2023 to 2024, the company exported approximately 500,000 tonnes of coal.
The mechanism of operation is as follows: coal is sold to the offshore company Energy Union, registered in the British Virgin Islands, at an undervalued price, which allows for a reduction in export taxes. The raw material is then resold to end buyers at market value.
Until 2022, the main supplies were directed to Bulgaria, Estonia, the Czech Republic, and Romania. However, following the full-scale invasion, exports were almost entirely switched to Turkey. As a result of using the transfer pricing scheme, the company earned 3.5 billion rubles in 2021–2023.
