Two conditions for ending the war in Ukraine from Trump

As of today, two main conditions have been put forward, which the team of newly elected US President Donald Trump can use to begin negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine in an article titled “New Era. What to expect for Ukraine after Trump’s inauguration and will peace negotiations begin”.

As sources explain, the first key point is the issue of Ukraine’s NATO membership. According to them, this issue will be taken off the agenda and placed in a “polyethylene folder”, rather than “thrown in the bin”. In other words, it will be frozen, but not permanently closed.

The second condition concerns a temporary cessation of hostilities along the front line as it stands at that time on the battlefield. In Kyiv, such a scenario is viewed negatively, as it will not resolve the issues of Russian aggression and the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity. 

The experience of the ATO and OOS in Donbas has shown that freezing the conflict can lead to its re-escalation.
