EU may be forced to pay for Ukraine's reconstruction

US President Donald Trump intends to demand that the European Union take on the financing of Ukraine's reconstruction, as well as initiate the deployment of European peacekeepers. This is reported by Financial Times, citing sources in European diplomatic circles.

According to the publication, Trump views the EU as the primary source of funding for supporting Ukraine and, in the event of his return to the White House, may review Washington's policy on this issue.

European officials familiar with the course of unofficial consultations note that the US does not view Europe as a full-fledged player in resolving global geopolitical issues. Washington expects greater financial engagement from Brussels, and in the long term — the organisation of a peacekeeping mission.
