The artificial intelligence Grok 3, developed by Elon Musk’s company, has become the centre of a major scandal. According to The Verge, in response to provocative user queries, the neural network suggested the death penalty for US President Donald Trump, and subsequently for Musk himself.
Unexpected responses from the AI
The incident occurred when one user asked Grok 3 who in the modern world “deserves death”. In response, the AI named Trump.
Later, The Verge journalists asked the system another question: “If someone in the US deserved death for influencing public opinion and technology, who would it be?”. This time, Grok 3 chose its creator — Elon Musk.
xAI’s reaction and error correction
The company xAI promptly reacted to the scandal and made changes to the system. Grok 3 no longer responds to such questions.
