Markushin suspended from post of Irpin mayor

Today, the Pechersk District Court temporarily suspended Oleksandr Markushin from his position as mayor of the city of Irpin. This decision was made within the framework of a criminal case related to his possible involvement in organising illegal departures of citizens abroad during martial law.

According to media reports, Markushin is named in more than ten criminal cases. At the same time, multiple instances of the destruction of evidence and documents held by the city executive committee have been recorded, with the aim of shielding a group of officials from criminal liability.

There are also reports of systematic pressure on witnesses. They were shown materials from criminal cases, accompanied by threats and hints of “control over the situation” within the prosecutor’s office.

Using his official position, Markushin allegedly exerted pressure on witnesses. In particular, he dismissed one of his deputies and reduced the salaries of other employees who served as witnesses in criminal proceedings.
