Odesa resident attempted to smuggle goods worth over one million

Yesterday, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a smuggler who attempted to take expensive mobile phones worth over one million hryvnia to Russia. Railway workers on the Odesa-Moscow route assisted the Odesa resident.

In these photos, there are almost eighty smartphones iPhone 6, iPhone 6+, iPhone 5S and iPad mini tablets, with a total value of over one million hryvnia (!), which a resident of Odesa born in 1985 attempted to take to Russia.

The Odesa resident attempted to pull off this scheme yesterday, 19 April, together with members of the crew of international passenger train No. 24 on the Odesa-Moscow route.

SBU officers, specifically specialists from the unit responsible for counterintelligence protection of state interests in the sphere of economic security, had been "tracking" the smuggler from the beginning until they "caught" him at the Konotop customs post of the Sumy Customs Administration, jointly with colleagues from customs and border authorities.

This is just one tiny fragment of the fight against smuggling and economic crimes...

And it is obvious that there is a lot of work to do here. And those who say that this is not enough are right... Just as those who draw attention to other problems are right...

But we need to talk about this, and we will do so more actively from now on... In parallel with information about the fight against saboteurs, separatists, and terrorists...

The Service is being revived, difficultly but gradually, and people's trust will return bit by bit...
