Callsign "Doberman": Ivan Shostak

32-year-old Ivan Shostak is the father of two young children – six-year-old Anya and two-year-old Kolya. Before the war, Shostak worked as a driver. He was mobilised in late August into the 80th Brigade. 

Ivan became famous due to an "interview" with the online publication Life News.

Quiet and calm, a true warrior who drove cyborgs to the airport for rotation from Pesky: 26 minutes there and 26 minutes back.

He is an MT-LB driver, a completely reckless driver who has repeatedly evacuated our wounded. He brought reinforcements and took away the 200th.

Not afraidto drive in pitch darkness under frontal attacks, lowering the "eyelashes" on his combat vehicle only for fractions of a second, and navigating by the triplex...

The last time he brought the guys to the airport, to the new terminal, with provisions and rotation on 17 January. On that day, his comrade Volodya was killed. The separatists were waiting for them and dropped explosives on the roof. Volodya lost his arm, the vehicle burned down, Ivan managed to pull his comrade out, apply a tourniquet, give him water, and stayed by his side until death....

He was at the airport for 3 days. With a wounded hand, under the rubble, he survived... was taken prisoner, after the third-floor slabs were blown up.

Currently, Ivan is in a Kyiv hospital, he faces arm amputation. Daily bandaging and sanitisation under anaesthesia. The man requires long-term, expensive treatment and rehabilitation, for which he is critically short of funds.
