SBU officers caught taking bribes in ATO zone

The Security Service of Ukraine, jointly with the military prosecutor, detained two SBU officers on the spot for taking bribes in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone. The men were extorting money while controlling the pass regime at a checkpoint in the city of Volnovakha.

A lieutenant and a senior lieutenant demanded 20,000 hryvnia from a man for crossing the line of contact. They were caught red-handed during the handover of the money.

An investigation is underway. The law enforcement officers have been remanded in custody.
