Will Saakashvili be left in the grey zone?

Today, many residents of Ukraine are watching the reality show “Mikheil Saakashvili’s Return to Ukraine” with great interest. The former President of Georgia is desperately trying to break into the country, having already switched between several methods of crossing the border.

At the moment, he is attempting to cross the border at the Shehyni checkpoint. Polish border guards allowed Saakashvili to cross the border without any hindrance. However, on the Ukrainian side, border guards have closed the crossing point for an indefinite period.

It remains a mystery what will happen next. It appears that Ukrainian authorities have decided to wear Mikho down and force him to return to Poland on his own.

If the Ukrainian border service does indeed confiscate Saakashvili’s passport, as was promised yesterday, he will simply be unable to cross the Polish border, as he will be left without any documents.

Presumably, Saakashvili is facing the same fate as Snowden, who lived for several months in a neutral or grey zone.

Unfortunately, the events of 10 September have become a true disgrace for the Ukrainian authorities. News outlets in many European countries are following the situation and are genuinely baffled.
