Biden and Trump cooperation: preparations for hostage negotiations in Gaza

The Joe Biden administration is actively coordinating with Donald Trump's team to ensure the handover of the hostage release negotiation process in the Gaza Strip. Such coordination is intended to help the new president and his team accelerate the conclusion of an agreement.

US National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby confirmed this information at a briefing, according to The Times of Israel.

"We are committed to ensuring that the new team is fully briefed. If a deal is not reached by 20 January, the new administration will be able to continue working towards its completion from day one," Kirby emphasised.

He noted, however, that negotiations are continuing under the leadership of the current administration. White House Middle East envoy Brett McGurk is already participating in discussions in Doha (Qatar), where the US is represented at the highest level.
