Trump ready to abandon talks with Putin

Donald Trump may cease any attempts to reach an agreement with Vladimir Putin if the Russian leader does not demonstrate a willingness to compromise. 

This is reported by Politico, noting that the former US president's policy on the Ukrainian issue has unexpectedly become for Europe perhaps the only ray of hope against the backdrop of his unpredictable actions in other areas.

Trump's attempts to pressure Russia have attracted the attention of the international community. In recent weeks, he has made a series of sharp statements, calling on the Kremlin to conclude an agreement to end hostilities. Trump threatened Russia with new economic measures in case of refusal, including high tariffs, sanctions, and actions capable of crashing oil prices.

Such an uncompromising stance was unexpected even for Putin's closest allies in the European Union, including the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban.

European diplomats express mixed feelings about the possible return of Trump to power. "We are preparing for a multitude of difficulties that he will likely bring, however, on the issues of Ukraine and NATO, there is a cautious reason for optimism," a diplomat from one of the European Union countries told Politico.
