Generals detained over surrender of Kharkiv region

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG) and the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), senior military officials have been detained whose actions led to the capture of part of the Kharkiv region in 2024. 

Among those detained are the former commander of the 125th Territorial Defence Brigade, the former commander of the “Kharkiv” Territorial Defence Corps, and the former commander of the 415th Rifle Regiment.

Law enforcement agencies state that their inaction in May 2024 resulted in the loss of part of Kharkiv district, the loss of personnel and weapons of the brigade, and the failure to defend the state border. Brigadier General Yuri Halushkin, Lieutenant General Artur Horbenko, and Colonel Ilya Lapin were among those detained.
