The Kyiv City Bus Management Authority (KMVA) commented on the current situation with public transport in the capital. Acting head of the authority Andrii Tkachov emphasised that the existing bus fleet does not allow for the full compensation of electric transport operations.
Resource shortage and metro duplication
According to the official, municipal services react quickly to interruptions in transport movement, but material resources are insufficient for all routes. In particular, a significant number of buses have to be deployed to ensure movement on routes that duplicate the metro's green line. This line is currently not operating across the Southern Bridge.
An additional challenge is the instability in the metro's operation caused by voltage spikes in the power grid. As a result, transport operators are forced to constantly adjust bus routes and redistribute transport assets.
Resilience points in city districts
Andrii Tkachov also reminded about the operation of infrastructure supporting residents. Currently, over 1,500 resilience points are functioning in all districts of Kyiv. Of these, 700 facilities were set up by responsible businesses. At these locations, Kyiv residents have the opportunity to warm up and charge their gadgets.
