Russian businessman Umar Kremlev stated that Donald Trump Jr had returned the funds spent on a gift related to the organisation of a wedding event. He disclosed this information during a press conference held in Istanbul, as reported by the Associated Press agency.

Kremlev's comments on the incident

Emphasising the nature of his relationship with the son of the former US president, Kremlev noted that he did not consider the return of these funds to be obligatory. He characterised the situation as an ordinary friendly story. According to the businessman, he and Trump Jr share a common interest in sports and traditional values. He also stressed that he had never previously approached Trump Jr with requests for assistance in the US.

Context of previous statements

Earlier, Donald Trump Sr publicly stated that his son intended to reimburse Kremlev for the costs of organising a party that took place after Trump Jr's wedding. According to Associated Press data, the total expenditure for this event reached several hundred thousand dollars. These sums included, among other things, the rental of a private island in the Bahamas.
