Coordination of actions during air threats

The State Border Service of Ukraine has recorded that Belarus continues to provide the Russian Federation with access to its own territory for the placement of equipment that ensures the transmission and amplification of radio signals. This infrastructure is activated specifically during periods when Russian strike unmanned aerial vehicles are launched at Ukrainian positions.

State Border Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko provided details on the situation. He emphasised that repeaters are switched on at the moment attacks begin and turned off after they end. The primary application of this equipment is to boost the signal of drones targeted at western regions of Ukraine and border zones.

Changing locations to avoid detection

According to Demchenko, the locations of the repeaters are not stable — they are constantly being moved. This is likely done because the Belarusian side fears that Ukrainian intelligence may be able to fully decode their operational algorithms.

«Ми бачимо, що вони вмикаються, точки їхньої роботи також змінюються, бо Білорусь, певно, остерігається того, що Україна зможе повністю вирахувати ті кроки, які робляться для того, щоб такі ретранслятори на території Білорусі працювали» (We see that they are switched on, and their operational points are also changing, because Belarus is probably afraid that Ukraine will be able to fully calculate the steps being taken for such repeaters to operate on Belarusian territory), the border guards' representative stressed.

Focus on the western direction and corresponding measures

The State Border Service spokesperson noted that the activity of this equipment is clearly synchronised with the actions of Russian forces. The repeaters pose the greatest threat during attacks in the direction of the Volyn region and other western areas.

The Ukrainian side is already working on blocking the operation of these systems on the territory of the neighbouring state. Demchenko added that these measures are of a closed nature, and various services and units of Ukraine's law enforcement agencies may participate in their implementation.
