Former intelligence officer’s forecast on winter risks
Poland may face a new large-scale wave of Ukrainian refugees if Russia intensifies strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in winter. This scenario was described in an interview by Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Maciej Korowaj, a former officer of the Polish Military Intelligence Service.
According to the expert, massive destruction could leave major cities without electricity, water, and heating. This would force millions of people to seek safer locations, particularly in western Ukraine and near the Polish border.
Moscow’s strategy and impact on Europe
In Korowaj’s view, Moscow may attempt not only to weaken Ukraine but also to increase tension in Europe. He suggests that a new wave of refugees could be used to undermine social solidarity and exacerbate internal disputes in European countries.
The expert also drew attention to the shortage of missiles for Ukraine’s air defence systems and the increasing scale of Russian air attacks. In his assessment, Russia is preparing for a prolonged confrontation with the West.
The need for independent support
In this context, the expert emphasises the need for European countries to be ready to support Ukraine independently if American military aid is reduced.
Meanwhile, the forecast of a new mass wave of Ukrainian refugees remains a possible scenario outlined by the expert. This does not confirm that Russia has already adopted a corresponding plan or that large-scale migration is inevitable.
