The Higher Anti-Corruption Court handed down a verdict against Irina Hryshchenko, former deputy head of the Dzerzhynskyi District Court of Kharkiv. She was found guilty of receiving improper benefit and sentenced to eight years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Circumstances of the case

According to the data from the criminal proceedings, the criminal episode took place in May 2020. At that time, Hryshchenko received $4,000 for issuing a court ruling that provided for the return of $31,663 to the accused. These funds had previously been seized during the pre-trial investigation.

Additional restrictions and change of preventive measure

In addition to the main punishment, the court banned the convicted person from holding positions in judicial and law enforcement bodies for three years. It was also ordered to confiscate all property belonging to the former judge.

Shortly after the verdict was announced, the court changed the preventive measure: instead of bail, Irina Hryshchenko was taken into custody directly in the courtroom.
