Billionaire's ironic reaction to voting results

US businessman Elon Musk published an ironic comment regarding the results of the US midterm elections, during which Republican Party candidates suffered a series of defeats. This is stated in his post on the social network X.

Musk joked that his "space lasers", which, according to him, are intended to interfere with the voting process, proved ineffective this time.

«Мабуть, мої космічні лазери, призначені для втручання у вибори, цього разу не спрацювали» ("Perhaps my space lasers, intended to interfere with the elections, did not work this time"), the billionaire wrote.

Record financial investments in the campaign

This joke appeared against the backdrop of Musk spending a record amount on supporting election campaigns. According to data from The New York Times, the businessman donated $474 million to Republican candidates. This amount exceeds the figures of any other donor who directed funds to political campaigns during a single electoral cycle in the history of the United States.

Defeat in Texas and historic Democratic victory

One of the largest recipients of Musk's funds was the candidate in Texas, Ken Paxton, whose campaign was allocated $168 million. Despite such extensive financial support, Paxton failed to win, losing to his Democratic Party opponent, James Talarico.

Talarico's victory was historic for the Democratic Party, as its representative won in this state for the first time in 38 years.
