On 27 October, the Kyiv City State Administration called on media, administrators of information channels, and social network users not to disseminate visual materials documenting damage to the capital's bridges, particularly the Southern Bridge.
Security risks and recommendations
The explanation accompanying the appeal states that detailed images of damage to strategic transport infrastructure objects could be used by Russia to assess the consequences of strikes and gather intelligence. To minimise such risks, the Kyiv City State Administration reminded of the need to adhere to information security rules:
- only photos and videos previously released by official bodies should be used for publications;
- do not publish or disseminate images that reveal details of bridge damage;
- delete previously published materials if they may contain sensitive information.
The city authorities also emphasised that current legislation provides for liability, including criminal liability, for the dissemination of certain information about the consequences of enemy attacks.
First footage published by head of Kyiv City State Administration
It is worth noting that the first photos of the damage to the Southern Bridge were published by the head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Vitali Klitschko. This happened at 7:58 am on the same day.
