Attack on medical team in the Lisovyi Masiv area

On 26 October, an alarming incident occurred in Kyiv in which an emergency medical team was injured. Missile strikes hit the area around the Trade and Economics University and a hospital in the Lisovyi Masiv district, where there were fatalities. At that very moment, the medical team was finishing a call and getting into their service vehicle when an explosion occurred.

The shockwave damaged the vehicle: glass shattered inside the cabin, and both members of the team were injured. The medics managed to jump out of the car and take shelter underneath it, as a second explosion rang out moments later. The very vehicle they use daily to rush out and save people became their shelter this time and saved their lives.

Professional duty despite pain

Despite sustaining injuries, the 49-year-old paramedic did not leave the scene. He continued providing first aid to other victims of the missile strike. This situation was reported by the emergency medical care department (Station No. 11), which published a corresponding post on social media.

«Ми пишаємося нашими колегами. Особлива вдячність парамедику, який навіть після власного поранення продовжив допомагати постраждалим» (We are proud of our colleagues. Special gratitude to the paramedic who continued helping the injured even after being wounded himself), noted representatives of the medical service.

Condition of the injured

>The aforementioned 49-year-old paramedic was hospitalised with diagnoses of: closed chest trauma, a laceration to the left hand, and acoustic trauma. Together with him, a 42-year-old emergency medical technician was injured, who was diagnosed with blast trauma. Both medical service employees were taken to the Emergency Medical Care Hospital. The department wished their colleagues a speedy recovery and full restoration.
