Pope Leo XIV thanks faithful for prayers and support after hospital discharge

Pope Leo XIV appeared before pilgrims in St. Peter's Square and the adjacent Piazza Pio XII on Sunday. The meeting took place after the pontiff returned from the medical facility where he had been receiving treatment.

Gratitude for prayers and medical care

Addressing the crowd of believers from the window of the Apostolic Palace, the Head of the Catholic Church expressed sincere gratitude for the support he felt during his days of illness.

«Я хочу подякувати всім, хто в ці дні молився за мене. Я справді відчув вашу підтримку» (I want to thank everyone who prayed for me during these days. I truly felt your support), Leo XIV emphasised.

In addition to the faithful, the Pope thanked the staff of the Agostino Gemelli Hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment. This expression of gratitude came after the joint recitation of the Angelus.

Personal reflections and plans

According to the pontiff, the experience of hospitalisation helped him better understand people who face illnesses.

Leo XIV also announced his intentions regarding a gradual return to his duties.

«Подолавши цей делікатний етап, я тепер поступово повертатимуся до своїх обов’язків, завжди з допомогою Бога та ваших молитов» (Having overcome this delicate stage, I will now gradually return to my duties, always with the help of God and your prayers), the Pope stated.
