Use of a new weapon modification

Monitoring resources claim that Russian military forces may have used an updated version of the 9M723-2F3 ballistic missile against Kyiv for the first time. This information emerged following a nighttime strike on the capital. According to observers' calculations, two such missiles were shot down over the city.

Experts classify this modification as a quasi-ballistic system and associate it with the Iskander-M missile complex. Preliminary data indicates that the warhead has a blast-penetrating design, allowing it to damage protected or buried objects.

Tactical features and threats to air defence

Analysts pay particular attention to the potential use of radar decoys during the missile's final approach to the target. They claim that such devices create false returns on radar screens, significantly complicating the operation of air defence systems.

Intelligence on weapons supply

The Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) previously reported the transfer of new ballistic missiles to Russia. According to intelligence data, the first samples may have been delivered to a launch site in the Bryansk region as early as 19 July.

Consequences of the attack on Kyiv

It was previously reported that Russian forces attacked Kyiv and the Kyiv region on the evening of 29 September and during the night of 30 September. As a result of the shelling, one person was killed in the capital, and four others were injured.
