Warning of a critical situation with energy resources
Oleksiy Kucherenko, a member of parliament from the Batkivshchyna party, expressed concern about the future state of electricity supply in Kyiv. In his assessment, the upcoming winter will be "надскладною" (extremely difficult) for the capital. The MP emphasised that the city has long failed to produce the required volume of electricity, while strategic plans for the development of cogeneration systems have remained unimplemented.
Failure of state initiatives
According to Kucherenko, state companies were unable to fulfil the plan for constructing new cogeneration capacity. This project, which the president and the government previously boasted about, proved unsuccessful in practice.
Distribution of responsibility
At the same time, the MP noted that Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko is not the sole culprit for the current state of affairs. Kucherenko does not believe that responsibility for the crisis in the capital's energy sector lies exclusively with the city head.
