Record weakening for third day in a row

The National Bank of Ukraine has again recorded a historical high for the dollar rate. Following today's trades on the interbank market, the regulator set the official rate at 45.600 UAH/USD. This is 6 kopecks higher than yesterday's value of 45.5382 UAH/USD. Thus, the record update has occurred for the third consecutive day.

Market awaits the end of the rally

The treasurer of one of the systemic banks explained the situation by noting that exporters have almost completely disappeared from the interbank market and are offering very little currency. According to him, yesterday the National Bank had to cover 97% of demand in Bloomberg trades, which exceeded $320 million.

«Експортери практично зникли з міжбанківського ринку і майже не пропонують валюту. Вчора Нацбанку довелося закривати 97% попиту на торгах Bloomberg (більше $320 млн). Усі учасники ринку чекають, на якому рівні завершиться це ралі, і готуються до нових курсових умов. Поки що регулятор витрачає резерви, опускаючи гривню все нижче і допомагаючи владі вигідніше конвертувати іноземну допомогу. Девальвація гривні, найімовірніше, продовжиться» (Exporters have practically disappeared from the interbank market and are offering almost no currency. Yesterday, the National Bank had to cover 97% of demand in Bloomberg trades (more than $320 million). All market participants are waiting to see at what level this rally will end and are preparing for new exchange rate conditions. For now, the regulator is spending reserves, pushing the hryvnia lower and helping the government convert foreign aid more favourably. The devaluation of the hryvnia will most likely continue), the treasurer of one of the systemic banks commented on the situation.

Trade volumes increase

Today, the volume of trades on the Bloomberg platform increased from $330.3 million to $383.4 million. The minimum dollar selling rate was 45.55 UAH/USD, while the maximum reached 45.71 UAH/USD.
