NABU officers detain SBU General Serhiy Duka

Officers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine have detained General Serhiy Duka. He held the position of First Deputy Head of the Department for the Protection of National Statehood of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Circumstances of the detention

According to Ukrainian Pravda, citing sources in law enforcement agencies, the measures were taken against the backdrop of the exposure of a criminal organisation. This occurred within the framework of the criminal proceedings under the "Carthage" operation.

The organisation's modus operandi

Members of the exposed criminal structure systematically bribed high-ranking officials in law enforcement agencies. In return, they sought to ensure the unimpeded operation of fraudulent call centres and other illegal business schemes.
