Dependence on political will of leaders

Mark Beckman, chief advisor to the First Lady of the United States, explained to Ukrinform journalists the conditions under which Melania Trump may continue her involvement in humanitarian projects in Ukraine. According to him, further steps depend entirely on whether the presidents of Ukraine and Russia — Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin — are ready for further interaction with the First Lady.

Situation in Oleshky

Currently, Melania Trump's main focus is on the humanitarian operation in the settlement of Oleshky in Kherson region. The advisor emphasised that, according to the First Lady's assessment, the situation in this region is approaching a catastrophic state. Implementing the planned measures in this location will take five to seven days after 29 October.

Prospects for further cooperation

Commenting on possible further actions, Mark Beckman noted:

«Після цього, якщо президент Зеленський і президент Путін знову будуть готові співпрацювати з першою леді, я впевнений, що Меланія Трамп продовжить ці гуманітарні зусилля» (After this, if President Zelensky and President Putin are again ready to cooperate with the First Lady, I am confident that Melania Trump will continue these humanitarian efforts).

Thus, Melania Trump's further participation in humanitarian initiatives in Ukraine will be determined by the results of the current operation in Oleshky and the parties' readiness to maintain dialogue.
