Robotic complex without a crew

The Russian armed forces released video footage of the tank assault robotic complex (TShRK) "Shturm" in operation. The demonstration took place as part of the "Centre-2026" military field exercises.

The main feature of this combat vehicle is the complete absence of a crew inside the hull. The unit is controlled remotely from a separate manned vehicle.

Technical specifications and armament

According to Russian sources, the "Shturm" is built on the chassis of T-72 or T-90 tanks. It is equipped with a shortened version of a 125-mm gun. Fire is conducted remotely in autonomous mode.

Control method and prospects

The drone is controlled via a link with a support vehicle located at a certain distance from the "Shтурm". Russian military have not disclosed the exact range of the communication channel.

Meanwhile, Russian military social media accounts speculate that the complex may be equipped with a satellite control system using the "Rassvet" orbital segment in the future. There is no official confirmation of this initiative yet.

The first footage of tests of this robotic complex appeared on the internet back in 2025.

Context

It was previously reported that robotic armoured personnel carriers were used within the structure of the 3rd Corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the recent Ukrainian military counteroffensive in the Donetsk region.
