The State Emergency Service reported conducting a check for radiation contamination in Odesa region. This inspection was a consequence of a large-scale fire that broke out following an attack on industrial facilities.

According to SES information, after the fire was contained, chemical and radiological protection specialists inspected the area. The inspection results showed no hazardous substances were detected. The specific reasons that prompted the radiological control are not clarified in the statement.

Context of the overnight strike

As previously noted, on the night of 5 October, Russian forces struck civilian and municipal infrastructure facilities. Areas in Zaporizhzhia and the Izmail district of Odesa region were affected.
