Appeal to allies planned

The United States administration is considering a scenario in which North Atlantic Alliance member states would be involved in additional funding for weapons purchases for Ukraine. This initiative is being implemented within the framework of the PURL programme. According to Bloomberg, some US allies have already been warned about the possible appeal to partners.

Reason for the financial shortfall

The need for additional resources is due to the fact that funds for the implementation of previously agreed supply contracts proved insufficient. Estimates suggest that the size of this deficit is approximately $2 billion. Obtaining new funds will allow for the fulfilment of obligations that were previously approved.

Outlook and details

At present, the exact amount the US may request from allies has not been announced. A formal request is expected to be submitted as early as November.
