Former Volodymyr City Council MP from the 'European Solidarity' party, Ihor Savyuk, was sentenced to pay a fine of 68,000 hryvnia. He was charged with receiving an undue benefit of 55,000 hryvnia for facilitating the admission of a person subject to military service (military-obliged person) to a college. In addition to the financial penalty, the court banned Savyuk from holding managerial positions in educational institutions for three years.
Initially, the former MP's actions were classified under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. However, the charges were later changed to Part 1 of the same article. The case was closed based on a plea deal with the prosecution, which allowed the court to impose a less severe penalty in the form of a fine.
One of the circumstances considered by the court when determining the size of the penalty was Ihor Savyuk's financial assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The amount of his contribution was 500,000 hryvnia, which is more than seven times the imposed fine.
According to his 2025 declaration, the former MP declared income and account balances totalling approximately 389,000 hryvnia. The origin of the funds used for the army donation has not been independently established.
Despite the verdict, Ihor Savyuk continues to work as the head of a college branch. He resigned his deputy's mandate in September, i.e. after his detention.
