Diplomatic triumvirate heads to Tehran

Consultations on regional security will begin in the Iranian capital on 26 October. Representatives from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan will take part in the negotiations. Both the Iranian and Saudi sides have announced their intention to hold the meeting.

It is worth noting that these three countries are members of the Meccan Defence Alliance, a military-political structure established this year.

Delegation composition and expected meetings

Key state figures play a leading role in the negotiations. The Saudi Arabian delegation is headed by Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman. Pakistan will be represented by Army Chief of Staff Asim Munir, while Turkey will be represented by the head of the intelligence agency, Ibrahim Kalin.

From the Iranian side, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei will participate in the talks. Foreign guests are also expected to have the opportunity to meet with the President of Iran.

Goal is de-escalation and support for mediation

Raied Krimli, Deputy Minister for Public Diplomacy of Saudi Arabia, stated that this meeting is a continuation of efforts aimed at reducing tensions between the parties involved in the current crisis.

In a post on the social network X, Raied Krimli clarified the purpose of the visit: «Ціллю зустрічі буде просування діалогу і дипломатичних рішень на підтримку зусиль з медіації Катару і Пакистану» (The aim of the meeting will be to promote dialogue and diplomatic solutions in support of the mediation efforts of Qatar and Pakistan).
