Tightening security measures ahead of mass actions

Multiple demonstrations are expected in the French capital on 24 October, which, according to French authorities, carry a risk of escalating into riots. To prevent potential clashes and looting, the government is preparing extensive measures to maintain public order.

As reported by Sortir à Paris, security in Paris will be significantly strengthened. French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez stated that 70,000 police officers and other security force personnel will be deployed to ensure stability during the scheduled events.

Traffic restrictions and closure of cultural sites

Due to the planned action, 24 metro stations in the city will be closed. Major museums, including the Louvre, will also close their doors to visitors.

Government stance and expected scenario

The protest march is scheduled to begin at 14:00 at Place de la Bastille. Students and representatives of trade union organisations are expected to join the action.

According to Laurent Nuñez, law enforcement agencies are actively monitoring social media. The authorities claim that representatives of the radical left are calling for attacks on state institutions in the online space.

«Ми не говоримо про мирний протест. Ми готові діяти рішуче завтра й не виявляти жодної терпимості до порушень громадського порядку», — наголосив міністр внутрішніх справ Франції. ("We are not talking about a peaceful protest. We are ready to act firmly tomorrow and show no tolerance for violations of public order," the French Interior Minister emphasised.)
