Appeal from relatives helped establish the girl's location

Polish law enforcement officers conducted a special operation at one of the hotels in the Wawer district of Warsaw. The reason for the check was an appeal from the mother of a 23-year-old Slovak citizen. The woman reported that her daughter might be in danger. The police received this information from their colleagues in Slovakia, where the victim herself had previously reached out, and it was established that the girl was in Poland.

Circumstances of arrival and loss of freedom

According to security forces, the young woman arrived in Poland for the purpose of employment. Initially, her plan was to get a job at a warehouse in Ukraine, but after it turned out that there were no vacancies, she was offered to continue the trip. Later, the 23-year-old woman realised that she had lost the ability to make independent decisions. She began to doubt the safety of her situation and feared that she might be taken in an unknown direction.

Detention and charges

During the search of the hotel room, police found the Slovak woman and detained five individuals. Among them were three Slovak citizens and two Ukrainian citizens. One of the Slovaks was questioned as a witness, after which he was released.

Four other defendants were charged with the illegal deprivation of liberty of a Slovak citizen. It was established that the girl was held in the room for over seven days.

Court decision and possible punishment

The court selected preventive measures in the form of three months of pre-trial detention for the four detainees. If the court delivers a guilty verdict, each of them faces a punishment of up to 10 years in prison. Polish police continue to clarify all details of the incident.
