Ironic reaction to questions about funding

During a mass event near the office of the Kyiv City State Administration, one of the women present attracted media attention with her humorous comment. Responding to a journalist's question about whether the action was a "paid" rally, she initially joked about receiving financial compensation.

«Мені заплатили за це більше, ніж 700 грн» (I was paid more than 700 hryvnias for this), she said.

Explanation of the motives of the gathered citizens

However, immediately after this statement, the event participant clarified that her previous phrase was merely irony. She emphasised that everyone present had appeared near the Kyiv City State Administration building solely at their own discretion and voluntarily.

«Насправді мітинг не проплачений. Ми тут, зокрема, і щоб підтримати одного з організаторів — ветерана війни» (In fact, the rally is not paid. We are here, among other things, to support one of the organisers — a war veteran), the woman stressed, explaining the real reasons for her participation in the action.
