Critical shortage of medium-range equipment
Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces currently possess only 14% of the required number of medium-range drones needed to carry out combat missions. This was stated by a serviceman from the Magyar's Birds unit, known by the callsign Leon, in a comment to The Wall Street Journal.
Crew readiness and supply issues
According to Leon, Ukrainian military personnel have already identified thousands of potential targets on Russian territory, and crews are fully ready to strike them. However, the main obstacle to realising this potential remains the lack of the necessary number of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Scale of Magyar's Birds production
The research and engineering unit of the company Magyar's Birds manufactures up to 100,000 warheads per month on order, intended for strikes at short and medium ranges. This product is supplied to more than 12 other units, primarily within the Unmanned Systems Forces.
Adaptation of Russian forces
Meanwhile, Russian military personnel are actively adapting to strikes by Ukrainian medium-range UAVs. They covertly move personnel and ammunition using civilian transport to avoid detection. In addition, the Russians have increased the number of mobile fire groups specialising in shooting down Ukrainian drones.
