Warsaw hands over five buses to Ukraine for blackout assistance

Five buses, which previously served routes in the Polish capital, are now designated to provide humanitarian support to Ukrainians. The Warsaw municipal carrier MZA has transferred the vehicles to the Caritas organisation in Drohobych. These vehicles will serve as mobile aid points during prolonged power outages.

Technical condition and purpose of the vehicles

The transferred Solaris Urbino 12 model buses were manufactured in 2008. Despite their age, according to MZA representatives, they have retained good technical condition. Just one week before the official handover, these vehicles were still carrying passengers on the streets of Warsaw.

During blackouts, residents will be able to enter the buses to warm up and receive hot food.

Organisation of the transfer and vehicle replacement

The project was implemented through the joint efforts of carrier MZA and the Warsaw Urban Transport Enthusiasts Club. In Warsaw, these buses are being replaced with new vehicles.

The decision to transfer the buses was approved by the Mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Trzaskowski.
