Suspension of weapons deliveries

The Polish side has temporarily suspended the transfer of a large-scale military aid package to Ukraine. This decision was made against the backdrop of the Lviv Regional Council adopting a resolution declaring 2027 the Year of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), its commander Roman Shukhevych, and the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) figure Oleh Olyzhyk.

Timing and Warsaw's reaction

According to a source, the vote by Lviv Oblast deputies coincided in time with preparatory measures for the dispatch of a large military aid package from Polish territory.

«Депутати Львівської облради примудрилися провести це голосування просто під час підготовки до відправлення масштабного пакета військової допомоги Польщі. Через їхні безвідповідальні дії зараз постачання цього пакета призупинено» ("The deputies of the Lviv Regional Council managed to hold this vote right during the preparation for the dispatch of a large-scale military aid package from Poland. Due to their irresponsible actions, the delivery of this package is now suspended"), the source emphasised.

Seeking a compromise

Active work is currently underway to resolve the situation and restore the supply of aid, which had been temporarily halted.

The decision by the Lviv Regional Council, which provides for dedicating 2027 to the UPA commander and OUN figure, provoked a sharp reaction from Polish politicians and officials.
